The Greivis Vásquez Foundation held a training course specifically directed to Venezuelan basketball coaches. The “Train
yourself to train Workshop”, an event created to teach new basketball coaching techniques and methods was provided by
the Greivis Vásquez Foundation in association with the Technical Basketball Training Center, an organization created by
Bruno D’Addezio, a notorious ex-player and recognized coach. The first clinic was held in Caracas on Friday, February 3 rd ,
as part of a national tour that will reach an approximate of 1000 Venezuelan coaches.
This was a highly significant and important event considering that it is the first time that the nation’s coaches are
approached and lectured on the latest, up to date, coaching and teaching methods. Venezuelan NBA player Greivis
Vásquez, founder of the Greivis Vásquez Foundation, sent a message to all the participants from the USA, where he’s in
the process of rehabilitating from ankle surgery: “We have created this activity explicitly for you, the nation’s coaches, to
instruct you in benefit of Venezuelan basketball”. The workshop received the surprise visit of Maickel Melamed, a
prominent motivational speaker, and a friend of the Greivis Vásquez Foundation, who offered a brief speech to the
participants and recognized the importance of the event.
After a successful 2016, in which our organization held the Elite 24 basketball camp, coordinated sports clinics nationwide,
provided school supplies to young basketball players and donated scholarships to students who stood out academically
and in athletics, The Greivis Vásquez Foundation celebrated its first anniversary with this wonderful event, as part of the
commitment to support and promote Venezuelan basketball.
