Back to School Days are highly significant to the Greivis Vásquez Foundation for various reasons. One of them is the simple fact of seeing all the students persisting in their goal of obtaining a college degree, which is one of the messages that we insistently deliver in each one of the motivational speeches and basketball clinics offered by the Greivis Vásquez Foundation.
The second motive is the “Back to School Backpack Bash”, an event that we organize annually in the College Park, Maryland area, in the proximity of my two US schools, Montrose Christian High School and the University of Maryland. This year was our fourth edition of the “Back to School Backpack Bash” and it is always a very nice experience to be able to interact with the people that watched me grow as a student-athlete. It is also very exciting to meet-and-greet the community members, to say hello to people of different backgrounds, culture and places of origin. I appreciate the positive messages from so many people that came up to reassure me that I will return to the NBA.
This is a very family oriented event, in which we make sure to provide recreational activities, games, music and food. The most beautiful thing is the fact of being able to donate backpacks and school supplies to the Hispanic population. This effort has an incredible human value, if we consider the different situations of adversity that we are facing today. This event is highly significant and for this reason the Greivis Vásquez Foundation has decided to provide school supplies to the community. We would like to thank all the sponsors for the continued support that has allowed us to make these contributions to the community of College Park, Maryland.
