Greivis Vásquez was named Spokesperson for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Venezuela
Venezuelan NBA player Greivis Vásquez was named Spokesperson for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Venezuela (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals.
The agreement signed by Greivis Vásquez and Peter Grohmann, the UN Resident Coordinator, will allow both parties to join forces in contributing to the promotion of the SDGs in making a more inclusive world and environmental sustainability.
During the event, The Resident Coordinator highlighted Greivis’s compromise in promoting the integral formation of the Venezuelan youth through education and sports activities. Mr. Grohmann also emphasized Vásquez willingness to create space for inclusion in the country and his interest in promoting the SDGs.
After signing the document, Vásquez expressed “Being the Spokesperson for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Venezuela is something that I can identify myself with, it also gives me the opportunity to continue contributing to the construction of a better country and, above all, to continue the work of forming integral citizens”.
Greivis stressed his commitment to take the SDGs to every corner of the country, “Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships”, said the Venezuelan player, acknowledging the trust brought upon him.
Vásquez, known not only for his NBA talent but also for his pledge to social community service, will support the values of the SDGs, such as eradication of poverty, quality education or gender equality, in a more sustainable and inclusive world.
